Responsibilities:The LibraryDirectordevelops and presents a draft financial budget to theboard on an annual basis forforecasting,approval andappropriation;identifies, applies for, and appropriatelyhandlesany grant funding; recruits, selects, hires, trains, supervises,andevaluates library staff;administrativelyassists theboard with long-range planning and policy developmentand implementation; prepares state annual report; informs and advises theboardon relevant updates and trends in thelibrary field;ensures the maintenance and safety offacilitiesand grounds; oversees the design and implementation of services and programs for users of all ages;ensuresstaffare trained toenhance the patrons’experienceby providing access to collections, programs,and services that uplift theoverall reputation of thelibrary; prioritizes outreach, servingas the public face of the library, responsible for disseminating public information, acting as liaison with community groups, and promoting the library as a community resource. Qualifications:An ALA-accredited master’s degree in library scienceplusthree or more years of progressively responsible experience in a public libraryisrequired.Experience providing excellent customer service, supervising a team, reporting directly to a governing board, and managing a budget are desiredskills.
